A planning input, not a prediction
Withdrawal rates are commonly used to explore a FIRE plan. People may compare 3%, 3.5%, 4%, or a custom rate that fits their own assumptions. A 4% rate is a commonly discussed planning convention, not a guarantee or a personalized recommendation.
See the monthly effect
FIRE Paycheck takes the rate you set and applies it to the assets you record. With example data, $900,000 × 4% ÷ 12 equals $3,000 per month. Changing the rate changes the planning number immediately, which can make tradeoffs easier to see.
Keep the decision yours
The app does not choose a rate, optimize a portfolio, or recommend a retirement strategy. It simply preserves your chosen input and gives it a monthly expression. You can revisit that input whenever your goals, spending, or assumptions change.
Use current values, not live feeds
Asset values are entered manually during a monthly check-in. FIRE Paycheck does not claim real-time market data or automated account syncing. This keeps the tool simple, private, and clear about what the number represents.
Build a monthly planning habit
Record your values, set your rate, and review the result on your own schedule.
